Negotiating Fences

We visited the Burghley Horse Trials in Lincolnshire today. it's a two hour drive so setting off early is necessary. It did, however give us time to visit our travel agents and enjoy a glass of prosecco and a conversation about L's next riding holiday.

The event seemed busier this year and it was more difficult to get into good positions to take photographs, unless you were willing to be unpopular with the other visitors. As a result I took many fewer images than in previous years. It was also tiring, dodging between people a lot of the time. When it came to leave, it looked as though we were going to be in a queue for ages, but the traffic management came good and we were away and on our way home quickly.

This is Oliver Townend on his horse, Cooley Rosalent, who were in contention for the lead, until they ran out off a fence on the course, receiving 20 penalty points.
