By a stroke of good fortune, the day of my 5,000th blip falls on A's birthday, so I get cake and Domino's Pizza to celebrate this double special occasion. Just after buying A's favourite cake from Konig's-Krone (see extra), I almost had a heart attack when a taxi plowed head on into the side of a car just a few meters in front of me. Thankfully, no one was injured, the taxi driver admitted immediately that it was his fault and, though understandably shaken and somewhat riled, the other driver managed to keep his cool as they exchanged details.

I figure I'll be about seventy years old when I reach 10,000 blips; I wonder if that will fall on A's birthday again? No doubt I will still be happily snapping photographs, and aliens will be living openly amongst us. I hope they won't be camera shy.
