Past The Post

Yeovil spent most of the afternoon chasing shadows as we were comfortably outclassed by an expensively-assembled York City side who are amongst the strong favourites for promotion this season.

They were quicker, stronger, more skilful and tactically superior to us all round and the 3-1 score line flattered us.

Our goal game from a howler by their goalkeeper who misplaced a pass to present our midfielder Luke McCormick with an open goal from 6 yards out, to make it 2-1. With 10 minutes or so to play it raised hopes of snatching an unlikely draw but normal service was resumed a few minutes later when we returned the favour with an own goal.

The photo shows an early free kick from our Brett McGavin, furthest right in green and white, going narrowly past the post.

All in all, a rather painful and chastening watch.

Earlier at Park Run I came tantalisingly close to my best time of the season again.
