Great North Run Medal
Another early start for me. Becky and Mike left around 8.15am to drive over to Newcastle. Mike dropped Becky off near the start of the Great North Run and then he drove to South Shields so he could meet up with her at the finish.
Astrid and I had a great time. Astrid played with her toys, did some jigsaws, watched Bluey on her tablet and some of her favourite TV programmes that I had recorded.. We also built a marble run which was great fun. She also did a lot of running around the house. We also went into the back garden to replenish the bird feeders... and give a plate of food to my neighbours cat Cheeky.
I watched the Great North Run coverage on TV from 10am till 2pm. There were 60,000 runners taking part. The start times are staggered and the elite men went off at 10.25am. Becky's start time was 10.50am. I was tracking 6 runners on the app and got notifications as they progressed. Becky did well and she finished in 1 hr 42 mins. The girl that Neil has been training for her first half marathon took 3hrs 3 mins. Neil, Rachael and Ellis were at the 8 mile mark to see her pass by.
When Becky and Mike arrived back here they had brought McDonalds so we settled down to eat our burgers and chips. Then it was time for them to pack up the car and head for Yorkshire. They left around 4.30pm. Sad too see them go but I will be seeing them again in a fortnight so I'm looking forward to that.
The weather was dry and quite warm but later on we had heavy rain. Glad it didn't rain while the run was taking place.
