Lancaster in Derbyshire

This is a detail from a well dressing in Eyam, Derbyshire celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Dambusters raid. RAF planes practised for the raid at the nearby Derwent reservoir.
Well dressings are pictures made from natural materials such as leaves, berries and seeds. They are a long established custom dating back into history as inhabitants of Derbyshire villages gave thanks for their water supplies and had their wells and springs blessed.
