Bathing Beauties

Arranged to meet friends at Scotland Street School to visit the Bathing Beauties Exhibition. It is a small exhibition with some memorable exhibits. I was interested in the commemorative trowel presented to The Lord Provost after the laying of the foundation stone of Govanhill Baths(known as Calder Street Baths to many)in 1914.
I regularly went to the baths after school and remember many happy days. I also had my Bronze Medallion Life Saving Assessment in the Main pool. More recently I attended a play during the Southside festival. It was about a group of women who decided to have a sit in at the Turkish baths when threatened with closure. We sat in what had been the pool and trust that it will be again.
