Dunblane Cathedral

Went to my sister's in Dunblane this evening for dinner following the type of working day that is best left behind (both in the mental and physical sense).

It was a lovely evening and we had a lovely walk, joined by my brother in law.

The lower half of the tower is from the 11th Century with most of the rest of the building of Gothic design dated around the 13th century. It was restored in the late 19th century.

The cathedral was once the seat of the Bishops of Dunblane.

The building is owned by the Crown and looked after by Historic Scotland. It is the burial place of Margaret Drummond of Stobhall and her sisters, Margaret was a mistress of King James 1v of Scotland and she and her sisters were said to be poisoned.
