Mother had to attend the eye clinic this morning. We were not looking forward to another long wait but it was all over in a little over an hour. Explanation for Mother's eye surgery being cancelled made sense. The surgeon decided that the cataract is not severe enough to operate. Mothers age, her diabetic issues and glaucoma all add to the risks of surgery and as the eye with the cataract is still the better eye surgery is to be left until absolutely necessary. Fair enough but why was that decision not made earlier? The surgeon "only got to look at the files in the last couple of days" ??
So Mother has to wait. She seems to have taken the change of plan readily enough but has been complaining more about not being able to see.

Needed a soothing moment or three after eye clinic and weekly shopping. Settles Mother at home and on the pretext of having forgotten an item from the supermarket I indulged with a half hour to myself.
