Living History

Coming from the UK, history tends to be Big, Old, Famous. Going back to visit the Old Country means you look at what you'd taken for granted with fresh eyes. But equally, what I love about New York (well, one of the things I love) is that it has a history all of its own. Not hundreds and hundreds of years old, but old enough to be a foreign country that is familiar yet unfamiliar.
