Almost there

If you look closely you can see the head of broccoli hidden among the long leaves. We had thought that the plant was never going to produce any flowering head, but it has now appeared.

Just in time apparently, as today a team from the University of East Anglia is starting human trials following on from successful lab studies on mice, which suggest that eating lots of broccoli may slow down and even prevent osteoarthritis. We'll need to keep a careful eye on this plant as it looks as though something else is eating the leaves.
