A Very Good Start

Because our flight from Seattle to Toronto leaves at 9 a.m. on Thursday, which would require getting up in the middle of the night to catch a shuttle bus to the Seattle airport, we decided some time ago to come down the afternoon before and stay at a hotel near the airport.

It's our first time at Cedarbrook Lodge, set in 18 acres of greenery just 10 minutes from SeaTac Airport, but it won't be our last. Our room is cozy, WiFi is free, breakfast is included, shuttle service to and from the airport is free, and there are many other amenities. Best of all, the food here is outstanding!

We ate in the lounge tonight, beginning our evening with a glass of sparkling Washington state Pinot Gris for me and a good craft beer for Phil. His bacon cheeseburger was outstanding, the shared polenta fries with homemade ricotta, red onion jam, and Berkshire pork gravy were surprisingly light and very tasty, and my spinach salad with a poached local egg, applewood bacon smoked at the hotel, and pickled red onions was outstanding. The prices were reasonable, the service was excellent, and the whole experience was a fine beginning to our vacation!

We walked around the grounds afterward, and now are planning an early night, as we will need to get up early in order to repack in our very tight suitcases the things we have taken out tonight and be at breakfast promptly, in order to take the 7 a.m. shuttle to the airport.

I will catch up with you all over the weekend!
