Contrary

Whenever I have planted this in flower beds it has produced a mass of leaves and just an odd flower here and there, so that in the end it was removed as not earning its keep. Now a clump has appeared unannounced in one of the "wild" areas in our getting out of hand garden and it has produced a mass of lovely flowers! It is a beautiful splash of colour at a time when there isn't much showing in the garden.
I always knew it as montbretia but believe it has acquired another name now.
