Bad Cells

Here again

An important day for Alex, though he didn't know it. First, it marks the end of his first block of treatment. Second, he had a general anaesthetic (we're old pros at that now, and he was so brave it made me cry). Third, his bone marrow taken today will be tested to detect the Minimal Residual Disease (MRD).

Why is this important? Well it measures how well the disease has reacted to the treatment, down to 0.001%. It then decides how intensive his treatment is over the next 23 months, and the chance of relapse.

We won't know the result until his next test in 7 weeks or so, as they compare the 2.
