welcome, loudpeople

The Fringe people, fringes and clothes are all here, barking their way across town. I expect it's because they're more used to making their voices audible to their fellows across a fashionably crowded gastro-bar, beside an excitingly busy street, in a buzzingly shout-ful gleamingly ostentatious office atrium or a creatively deafening editorial meeting-room that their natural mode of speaking is a heavily-projected shout able to be clearly heard from the other side of a street several streets away from the one they're walking down. Strutting, sorry; such fine people cannot simply walk, like dull pauper-drones. Walking along the same pavement as them is impossible as they occupy them across their entire widths. Haven't overheard any comments about them being like yeah really like totally shocked at the like atrocious yeah state of the rubbish OK yeah bins here yeah yet, but I expect it'll happen. Even local-ish (student or ex-student) venue crew members are self-importantly barging around shops as if they're so important they must always appear hurried and lightly breathless. Also, the faster they move, the more the lanyards, headphones and XLR cables draped around their necks will sway to and fro in an excitingly Involved In Important Things manner.
Although they don't really kick in until the International and Book festivals begin there are still a few panama-wearing white-suit-clad strolling poshos dotted about here and there. No noises from them yet.
