BUILDING BLOCKS OF A CAREER

First job I had on leaving school was as a chain-man working on the building of a storage facility for North Sea oil, that may sound highly technical to the white collar workers but consisted of me holding a pole whilst a surveyor took measurements! £17.60 a week, felt like a fortune back then, I must have been a good holder of poles as I progressed to being the man in a hard hat who set up the theodolite, no extra money but I got to drive a dumper truck.
