Lights out

They're digging up the path along Chesterton Road. It's something to do with the street lights.

At Mitcham's Corner, I saw the top of a street light on the ground. It's not often you see one this close up. They're bigger than I imagined then to be.

What's in a name?

Mitcham's Corner is so-named after a shop called Mitcham's that used to be on a corner of this strange one way system that forms the junction of several roads. The name used to refer specifically to that corner, but now tends to refer to the whole system.

Recently, people have been referring to Mitcham's Corner as Staples' Corner, presumably because Staples is the most prominent shop on this one way system. Other people have been up in arms about this. Neither name is official — the roads have their own names — and as long as people know where you mean, I don't see as it matters that much.
