Spoiled for choice - Wryneck!

It has taken me ages to choose the shot for this blip. Have loads of others which would have done and will try and post links to them soon.

What an awesome day. Met up with pontycyclops and his wife Dawn at Strumpshaw Fen today. It was a bit weird seeing as I was with them in Wales last week!

The weather was beautiful and we knew that a Wryneck had been showing well this week. However, we weren't hopeful and didn't want to get our hopes up. But boy did it come good!! And luckily we had gone past the spot and had the sun at our backs, lighting the bird beautifully. Spent nearly an hour watching it from about 10 feet away. Suffered several nettle stings in the process but it was worth it.

Whilst watching the Wryneck a shout went up "Osprey!" and there it was above us. Got a shot or two which on any other day would have been my blip! We saw it and another Osprey later having an altercation with a Marsh Harrier.

Another blip would have been the Swallowtail Butterfly caterpillar. We did catch a glimpse of this awesome butterfly but not for photographic purposes.
