Longfellow deed poll

Exciting day for us today as M's name change came through in the post. We always wanted her to be a Meg but we were persuaded to put Megan on her birth certificate to give her options when she's older. Day to day it doesn't make any difference but every year come September she has to keep reminding her new teacher that she's a Meg and ask them to redo her tray and books, despite her telling them during 'Meet the teacher day' in July. It probably doesn't seem that important to anyone else but I'll never forget her school taster sessions in Foundation where she refused to cross the threshold into the classroom because the teachers wanted her to wear a sticker with Megan on it.

Then there was her recent trip to hospital where the amazing staff are trying to convince her to let them take a blood Sample, or give her some treatment, all the while calling her Megan as I watch her getting more and more on edge and grumpy about it. Especially when you're poorly, you want to be called by the right name. Meg asked after that experience if we could get it sorted properly for her. And today it was :-)

In other news, E & M (formerly known as Megan) has friends over. We got to the park and within 2 minutes poor Joshua had fallen from the monkey bars and landed awkwardly on his back. I had to leave him and little L in the park with a stranger so I could sprint and get his mum who'd only had a baby 7 days ago. It was suppose to be a little break for her, not a near bone break for her son. I felt terrible. His back was fine as I'd hoped but he had refused to get up because of the pain and I wasn't going to make him. He's sprained his wrist too :-S

Josh's mum was calm and amazing and after an ice pack and calpol he was ok to come back over. Poor kid was pretty teary for the rest of the day though. I really felt sorry for him.

All kids were amazingly well behaved and I gave them back to their owners without any additional damage.
