Re-Cycling

Flies and wasps feeding on the apple I put out for the birds three days ago. It shouldn't still be here - is it because Finn caught a bird? Where are the squirrels? They usually take the apples very quickly.
Some people find flies loathsome, but they are part of of nature's re-cycling system. True, we have to be careful what we leave uncovered, but I think life would be a lot more distasteful without our insect cleansers.
