The Grand Entrance Hall.

The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, was founded in 1816 with the bequest of the library and art collection of the 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam, originally located in Free School Lane. Also included was £100,000, ' to cause to be erected a good substantial building.'
The founder's building itself, was opened in 1875 in it's present day location in Trumpington Street. This beautiful, grand entrance hall was designed by Edward Middleton Barry.
Another delightful afternoon spent browsing around, finishing off with coffee and a strawberry jam scone.
