Swans

Today Inverclyde celebrated it’s new arts centre, "The Beacon" with a day of free arts activities including classes, exhibitions, street theatre, live debate, bands, choirs, lots of performance and a great night’s ceilidh as the final celebration.

I popped down to the start of the event as the Paper Boats were being released into the water by one of the Fireboats. This was inspired by the late great George Wyllie, in honour of his 80-foot paper boat.

During the opening ceremony I liked this group of street theatre artists who were all dressed as swans, saying farewell to the paper boats. George would have loved this.
