fairy tale day

today we went to a fairy tale day at Tutbury castle. i got this through groupon a few weeks ago for a bargin price, just for something to do over the bank holiday really. also thought it would be great opportunity for erin to wear her princess dress outside.

i did google it before hand to see if there were any pictures from last year and came across a local news video and there were lots of little girls all dressed up so the princess dress was a go. couldn't leave my little man out so i whipped up a little robin hood/peter pan hat for him to wear.

a quick drive to Tutbury we made it to the 'castle' i say this very loosely as it was actually castle ruins but still cute. it was VERY busy with little princess and knights everywhere. walking around the grounds were all different fairy tale characters all stopping to talk to the children. there was also some stalls, fair rides and hook a duck.

we put caleb and erin on the sit on ride, this was Caleb's first time on a ride without me or mark but he absolutely loves anything with a steering wheel so i knew he would be fine. it was lovely to see him and erin on something together like this, gives you an insight to what the future will be like when they are a bit bigger and too cool for mum and dad to ride with them.

we played hook a duck and rather than the tak prizes we thought a ball each would be better, what with Caleb's new found passion for balls. they were on stretchy cables, it also seemed to be all the other children's accessories at the castle :)

we sat and had a picnic and erin was spotting all the different characters while caleb came across something new....a jam tart, wow he looked so confused eating it like it's so nice it cant be real :) the wicked witch from wizard of oz worked passed us in full character and erin actually screamed, she was not having any of it. she looked so scared it was horrible, the good thing is the 'witch' noticed and moved on very quickly. the tone was quickly changed when mickey and minnie mouse was spotted along with a few disney princess. erin almost had her picture with mickey and minnie but couldn't quite get her self to stand too close to them.

we took a hike walk up to one of the ruins at the top of a hill, erin instantly wanted to sit in one of the windows just like a princess. she loved it. her imagination at the moment it soaring so this was just her cup of tea.

last stop was an ice cream each and then off home, erin loved telling us who she had spotted at the castle on the drive home, bless her she's just so innocent.
