Trotternish Sunrise, Isle of Skye

It's 4.57am and I'm standing just hoping the sun will illuminate the Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye. I had tried the previous morning but turned the car around halfway along the road as there was just a thick blanket of cloud. Today was slightly different - broken cloud on the horizon, a chance of something special. I was right! The sun came over the horizon to my left - over the Sound of Raasay and Applecross - and for just a few minutes bathed the ridge in golden light. Golden Eagles flying below my position in the early morning light made this an experience I'll not soon forget.
