Gateway to where?

I have passed this Gateway many times, but always missed stopping to take a Photo.
Very awkward to take a photo of the whole Gateway, because I had to stand in the middle of the road to get this one, otherwise it's just a sideway's view where you cannot see it as a whole, luckily the Traffic stopped briefly along the A259, so I jumped into the road like a Mad Woman & took the photo.
I took photo's of parts of this too, but I wanted you to see the whole Gateway, with it's Brick Arch & Wooden Gate & Tree's to the side & weeds growing fast.
I wonder what it was there for? I would love to know :o)
