the brixton hill fire

i've been meaning to take some shots around of this place for ages, but I usually drive to work and have been too lazy to actually stop and do what i oughta.

this is an old petrol station that was being used to sell/store old tyres and wheels and junk. a couple of weeks ago someone set fire to the place. the blaze was so ferocious the police had to close brixton hill to traffic while the fire service brought it under control, causing a major gridlock in southwest london.

the aftermath was an impressive scene of devastation, but it got cleared up quite quickly so i missed the opportunity to nose around with my camera.

i left the car at home today as it was my colleague jane's last day and we were going for a drink after work so i set the camera to continuous shooting mode and blip-blip-blipped from the top deck of the bus as it hurtled past. it's not the shot i wanted but it's no use crying over spilt milk.
