Die Eidechsen

Or "the Lizards". I think this may be worth seeing in large.

The day started out very Rock 'n' Roll with 2 hours of German grammar after breakfast. The human body isn't designed to take too much of that kind of excitement and so we went for a walk.

A walk from Schierstein to Eltville along the Rhein. If the weather is good, this is a lovely walk. There are lots of nice restaurants, bars and cafes in Eltville to treat yourself when you get there.

Or you can do what we did, which is turn around and walk all the way back, promising yourself a Hopfenschorle* in Schierstein, only to be disappointed because today is Festival day in Schierstein and the place was full...

Eltville is a very pretty town with very, very expensive villas overlooking the Rhein. These villas have walls at the bottom of their gardens and in these walls live lizards. The lizards like to sun themselves and pose for photographs for tourists and lizard fanciers (I'm assuming such a group exists) and curious Blippers.

I think I'm ready for another round of Grammar, although I know I'll pay for it tomorrow.

*Hopfenschorle isn't a real German word. It was coined today as we were talking about the Reinheitsgebot, an old law about what you can put in Bier (water, barley and hops originally - no mention of yeast as it wasn't known about). Hops are called Hopfen here and any drink with water added is known as a Schorle and hence Hopfenschorle as a synonym for Bier.
