Day trip to the Port of Lyttelton.

Went over to Lyttelton Harbour today and took more follow up Pics of the results of the earth quake damage. Lot of demolished buildings and empty sections. also a few of businesses re-started in a different place..great work.. Went to look at the Port too. There were so many piles of logs of wood, with 2 trucks bringing more. Also there was a fertilser boat in and unloading, so there were plenty of truck and trailer units being loaded. The cranes with giant buckets go into the holds and bring up the fertiliser and put it into hoppers which the trucks drive under and a guy operates the hopper doors and fills the bins on the trucks. the driver puts the tarpulin covers on and heads back through the tunnel to the depot in Ch-Ch. takes about 1hr for the round trip. it was a beautiful day over there. The other 2 pics are shots of what Lyttelton is about...Everyone I spoke to was pretty upbeat about the situation. really great to hear.
The container wharf was a hive of activity as well. top pic on the lhs. on the far rhs of top pic are fuel tanks.
