marylène is a neighbour who brings us crepes and later greengages from her garden - so i made a clafouti out of the fruit and gave her some back!
she inherited the house from her grandmother and remembers the cow being inside the house in the kitchen.
her mother died when she was young so lived with her gran. on friday morning she was turfed out of her bed so that bread dough could be proved in the warm bedding! she remembers being rewarded with a lump of the risen dough to make her own bread shape!
she still goes down to the river to wash her clothes!
