The Abbey Quarter

A good part of Paisley's history is captured in this shot. On the left is the medieval abbey which celebrated its 800th anniversary during this past year. It recalls the early ecclesiastical settlements which were at the heart of Paisley's early history. A daughter of Robert the Bruce is buried within the building.

On the right is the Town Hall which I have blipped before and which was built by cotton money thus recalling Paisley's industrial past.

This area has now been designated the Abbey Quarter and hopefully it will show the way inPaisley's future development.
