The Poss

Black Isle

Taken from James's Temple at the top of Drumderfit Hill looking more or less north. There's a forestry track that circles the hill but the path to the top is signalled by a small waymarker with what looks like a Greek letter pi or a trilithon which may lead you to expect to find something like Stonehenge at the top. In fact there's just a few old boulders but probably more under the vegetation. The path is not too easy to follow as it's clearly not well-trodden. To my mind the waymarkers could be made more obvious and closer together but after all the business of Forest Enterprise is growing trees and then chopping them down. So we should be grateful for the access we get. I did lose the path for part of the way on the way down and the ground is very humpy and difficult with lots of deep cracks. If you look closely in large between the forest/grassy foreground and the golden fields beyond there is a bit of wetland where the Littleburn enters Munlochy Bay.
