Grand Western Canal

Mum, Leo and I had a lovely trip on the Grand Western Canal today. We took a ride aboard one of the very last horse-drawn barges in the UK. Taffy the Horse did a grand job and we had a great ride.

We saw loads of lovely wildlife and Leo was particularly impressed by the lovely red beaked moorhens and the very adventurous dragonfly that flew in one side of the barge and out the other!

There was a large breach of the canal last winter when the South West saw lots of flooding but it is currently being repaired and should be as good as new by 2014 - just in time for the canal's bicentenary celebrations.
