Our New Neighbour................

Well actually, we're his new neighbours. Arrived here in Andalucia for a weeks holday at Villa Aberavado, and this guy was tucked away in a corner on some steps at the back of the villa.

I fired up the laptop and googled the toad, as you would, result, Bufo Bufo, The Common Toad.

Amongst the results on google were reports regarding the deaths of many pet dogs due to poisoning. The toads come into peoples gardens during the evening, their pet dogs find the toads pick them up in their mouths or even try to eat the toads, toads release toxins from glands behind their eyes, and through warts on their bodies.
Death is avoidable if action is taken promptly, but in some cases the dog has been dead in as little as twenty minutes...............

The toxins aren't considered lethal to humans, but can affect their eyesight should any toxin come into contact with the eye.

Perhaps a warning to any Princess's out there looking for her Prince Charming, think twice before kissing that toad...........
