Shaky........

The purpose of our present trip is to check out walks, hotel and travel for our club's winter break in the Cairngorms next February.

We had a good dinner and evening's entertainment last night, and today headed towards Spean Bridge to walk ten and a half miles of the East Highland Way. The walk was okay, but not of the standard we wanted for the club, and although we finished it we will do another in February.

It was through plantation forest in the beginning, very straight land rover tracks, which was a bit boring, and no views. Later on it did open out a bit, became more undulating, and more interesting, but at the end we had to cross a gorge, and the pedestrian suspension bridge is in a bad state of repair. It looks like they have just abandoned maintaining it and will probably close it. Meantime they have warning signs up. We crossed with care, and it bounced a lot in the middle. We know that some of our members would not be happy to cross this, so we had no option but to abandon the walk.

Having said that, the six of us had a nice day's walking, and enjoyed our day. It was not a walk we would want to repeat though.

The weather has remained sunny and warm, a lovely summer's day, and we are feeling very fortunate.

Back to the hotel for another lovely meal, and even a little dancing in the evening.
