Discarded Daily

A discarded elastic band seems like a little thing but they appear several times a week outside my front door. The postmen throw them away. I don't understand why they don't re-use them. Surely it saves money and resources to do this?

I normally take them in and wash them. They are always useful for bundles of leaflets!
