What goes on

At the cottage for the weekend, and went to enjoy the forest via mushroom picking. Alas, with no rain during the week, the crop was not too large especially as I did not pick the trumpet chanterelles (all others with me now have some problems in digesting those). Still found some porcini, chanterelles, and saffron milk-caps (lactarius deliciosus).

When walking back, thought of taking a close-up of the strange looking pods beside the path. Suddenly realised that the pod was partly alive with the shield bug attempting to dine (or rather lunch) there.

A lot goes on in the small scale and we never notice it, unless we stop and have a close look.
