Common toadlet

I know this is a terrible photograph, but it is a bit special. I led a walk around the nature reserve this afternoon, looking at all the work we've been doing to transform a series of arable fields into species-rich (eventually!) chalk grassland. At the edge of the reserve woodland two delightful little girls from a family who joined the walk, suddenly called me to say they'd found a frog. It was tiny and they were struggling to keep hold of it...and it turned out to be a little common toadlet - the first record of Bufo bufo on the reserve for many years. I pulled my camera out of my pocket and just managed to get this shot before it leapt into the long vegetation.
