There's Gold In Them Thar Hills!

Open Doors Day is always an added incentive to get my backside of the chair, into the car and off to visit something new. Last year a mosque and synagogue and others. This year a Covenanters' house/museum and the Leadhills & Wanlockhead railway (at least the bit that exists so far). A very short narrow gauge rail trip took us up to Glenconner stop where the track ends exactly on the Lanarkshire/Dumfries & Galloway border -it doesn't make its to Wanlockhead yet but it is hoped to be possible soon.
This is the terminus. It was either this or a shot of the signal box levers which I quite liked.
Lots of levers (about 19) but too many to have been needed on this line: they were acquired from the famously beautiful West Coast Line at Arrochar and Tarbet when they upgraded.
Enthusiastic volunteers like the good folk involved here deserve support.
Mainly lead here but you can still pan for gold.
