pie man

Simple Simon met a pieman,
Going to the fair Wirksworth Festival;

This man was selling his fantastic pies through a doorway, we had just had lunch and my wife said "you can't still be hungry" :-(

The small town of Wirksworth in Derbyshire, has found a new identity in recent years. Once dull and covered in quarry dust it is now a vibrant place with fascinating architecture, coffee shops, antiques, shabby chic and the rest. It holds an annual rural arts festival throughout September and this weekend it opened with a trail around its many narrow streets and alleys. Churches, halls and peoples homes and gardens become the galleries for artists of all sorts .

We spent all day there and it flew by, in and out of lovely houses and cottages, listening to music, eating, drinking and in awe of some artists and photographers.

Well done Wirksworth, the new place to be in the Peak District.

By the way , many thanks to all those that commented on my mini library
yesterday :-)))
