St Matthews

St Matthew's Church of the Nazarene in Paisley was originally known as St George's East. It was built in 1905-1907 in a mix of Gothic and Art Nouveau styles by Paisley architect W D McLennan, who was a member of the congregation. The church is regarded by many as Scotland's most significant Art Nouveau church.

The church suffered from a period of neglect until the early 1990s when a significant renovation programme restored it to its former glory.

We stayed very close to here last night in The Watermill Hotel and had a walk to clear our heads this morning, then off to my mum and dad's for coffee. Their house looks like a cross between a card shop and a florist. Went to visit my mother in law in hospital on the way home and a quiet evening in after all of the excitement.
