"Someone's Left The Cake Out In The Rain"

When Richard Harris sung MacArthur Park in 1968 I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics, I thought they were mad but I now know they are sad. :( The cake left out in the rain represents a failed love affair.

"I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again, oh noooooo" :(

I found some dry old trifle sponges in the back of my cupboard and threw them out for the birds. They've remained untouched while the weather has been hot. Now, softened by the rain, they are attracting wasps desperate for sweetness. My pic shows a pair busy in their cake cave.
