Quod oculus meus videt

Stepping Out

Had the pleasure of an invite to a horse racing stables today, courtesy of a friend's daughter who is one of the riders. I had plenty of horse portrait shots available but just liked the connection between horse and lad as they were coming out of the stables.

There was also some concern at the vagaries of computer technology today, the sat nav taking us completely different routes going to and coming from the yard. For Midlanders they might recognise my consternation as the navigation first took us past one side of a large hill, returning along the other side. The name of the hill? The Wrekin. Seems not even IT is immune to local sayings.

For those not from the area "All around the Wrekin" or "Running round the Wrekin" is a phrase common in Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Stafford, Birmingham and around to mean "the long way round", in the same way that "round the houses" is used more widely.
