Acorn

An acorn or aker is the fruit of an oak. It is a note by one, sometimes two seeds. The length of an acorn varies between 1 to 6 cm and is 0.8 to 4 inches wide. Usually it takes between six and 24 months before an acorn germinates.

Acorns are important food for animals, such as mice, squirrels, wild boar, deer, ducks and some other birds and bears near oak life. In these animals is sometimes 25% of winter stock from acorns. Acorns were used to carry pigs.

Acorns can also be toxic to animals, such as horses.

Acorns are not storable, because they retain no more than one season their germination.

In Korean cuisine acorns are used to make jelly and is called muk.
