Il pleut comme une vache qui pisse

With sinking hearts we saw the weather and how it would affect our cheese and wine evening, ran outside of course. So from the photographs you can see typical British derring-do…not only did people come to the evening with their plates and glasses, they also came with their parasols, creating a sort of mushroom of protection from the rain. And the evening was brilliant, with everyone chatting and making friends, and the children absolutely loving getting soaking wet and eating loads of sweets! It wasn’t that it was cold luckily, just that it was wet! Typical British spirit creating our most successful cheese and wine yet I would say with pretty much no one leaving until it had gone dark (and even then people stayed with candles!)

So the rest of the day was relatively standard. After Kids Club was spent on cheese and wine preparation. Thom’s dad took us to the supermarket, and we ended up having a wander round rather than our usual dash we Thom’s dad and I rather distracted by conversation. Lucky that Thom was paying attention with what we bought hey?! As more and more customers are arriving, a full site this week, I’m worried that we will not be able to spend as much time with each family as we would like but so far we seem to be coping alright. The family that we most want to see (Thom’s, obviously!) are more than accepting about the fact that we are here to work, but it really would be nice to see them a bit more than we have so far.
