10 Countries Run Day 2 - Grenoble to Cherasco

Day 2 of the Club Triumph 10 Countries run started around 4.30am. After just a couple of hours sleep in the car, we were up and soon rolling again. After passing Grenoble and watching the sun rise, we headed on towards Col de la Bonnette, the highest road in Europe. Beautiful skies (although it was quite chilly at the top). The drive was really challenging for driver and car - the road is very, very steep and couple that with trying to avoid cyclists and occasionally take in the views!

We left the mountain top and headed down towards Nice. It was during this part of the journey that the maroon car started to cough a little. As the temperature rose, it was clearly having difficulties. We had a longer than planned stop in Nice, it was super hot but it gave us a chance to fettle the engine (points) and cool things down in the fuel system. We briefly dived into Monaco, the first time we'd left France since starting the trip. Then things got really interesting as the maroon car stopped firing on all cylinders. As we climbed into Italy it was clear more work was needed. Plugs were changed, timing was checked and after another false start, the coil was changed before we got fully up and running. Thankfully this did the trick and somewhat behind schedule we rolled into the hotel stop at 8.30pm. Phew!

A meal was laid on for all the drivers and plenty of anecdotes were exchanged of the first two days' running. It is a great community of Triumph fans and a fountain of knowledge of all things mechanical. Another great day.
