Antlion

Adult antlions are rarely seen in daylight, but Z was lucky enough to find one this morning, on his way from the bus to the office. It was resting on a spike of Mullein. This is the species common in Sweden called Myrmeleon formicarius (Swedish: myrlejonslända). Their larvae, also known as doodlebugs (link showing a larva eating a small beetle), build sand pit traps.
