Deworming programme in rural Maharashtra

IMPACT India’s Community Health Workers distribute deworming tablets to children in rural Maharashtra. Parasites steal vital nutrients from already malnourished children. They spread with ease in the conditions of poverty, where there is little access to clean water and sanitation.

The World Health Organisation estimate that nearly 2 billion people worldwide are infected, mostly in low-income countries. Although not immedicately life-threatening, worm infections can significantly impact health by exacerbating malnutrition and lowering immunity to disease.

It has been said before, but prevention really is better than cure!
