horns of wilmington's cow

More mist; more walking; more seafood; more walking; more cheese; more whisky; more words...

The weather wasn't off putting; the Coral Beach was busy; the Three Chimneys for lunch was superb (again); the pier a mile or so from the cottage was chilly; the cheese in the evening was all we needed; the whisky was warming; the inspiration to write (a lot more than just this entry) is flowing...

I could (should?) have out a picture on of the stunning seafood platter at the Three Chimneys, but I can't resist a natural, relaxed smile like this. Got a taxi back after lunch so that, for once eating there, we could share a bottle of wine, which means I'm up early-ish to go out on the (other) bike (I brought) to fetch the car (less onerous than it sounds, it's only four miles away).

Ordered a replacement mech hanger for bike no. 1, to get delivered to the place we're staying on Harris from Saturday. Fingers crossed it arrives in time for me to sort the broken bit, and still have time (and the weather) to ride the Golden Road loop. I could ride it on bike no. 2 (my regular commuter) but it's just not as... fun/fast/engaging/distance-ergonomic.

Oh, and taxi-man Rab (lovely chap, Dunvegan taxis highly recommended) says it has been a quieter year on the taxi-front because more tourists are taking the chance of having a few drinks but then driving themselves home. For the sake of the sheep I was never going to indulge in that lottery. He also agreed that fewer people wave thanks for you stopping in a posing place, and as few understand the etiquette of single track driving. We've not been imagining it.
