But, then again . . . . .

Cutting the Grass.

Today we have a blip of Mrs TD cutting the grass with a pair of kitchen scissors. She is attempting to find all the froglets and escort them to safety so that I can cut the grass properly with the mower. She does not want to find the lawn covered with bisected small frogs.

An hour later she was still at it having lifted about a dozen of the little blighters and deposited them in a remote pile of grass clippings that she had assembled for the very purpose.

I managed to persuade her that the grass would still be there in a few months time and, since we pride ourselves on having a wild-life friendly garden, no one would really mind.

Amongst the wild-life to which the garden is friendly are: blackbirds, starlings, jackdaws, magpies and rooks; all of these we encourage to visit us by putting out copious quantities of food. Amongst the foodstuffs that each of these birds would enjoy are, of course, froglets.
