Return to the North

Tina Turner comes to town!

What to do in Murchison on a friday night?
Option 1- sit in the lazyboy and watch TV, maybe read from my iPad, have a hot drink or two or.....
Option 2 - go to the theatre to take photos for 'Stars in their eyes' a talent show fundraiser for the local play centre.

Option 2 won out and what a great night out it was. The theatre was chock full to watch 8 acts sing their socks off. We had Sarah McLachlan, Ronan Keating, Monsters and men, Stevie Nicks, The Bangles and Lady Gaga and here the eventual winner Tina Turner.

I went to the same gig last year and wasn't overly impressed with some of the singing but I ahve to say this year EVERY performance was top notch. Tina here really threw herself into it :-)

In between acts getting ready we had a variety of other local talent on show. A local bluegrass band called Rural news played as did two of our students who have been winners at the NZ country music festivals and who earlier this year won a prize to play at Tamworth a huge Aussie country music festival.

A good night had by all and a huge fundraiser for the playcentre.

Have to say my personal favourite was Sarah Mclachlan singing wise but Tina really was a cracker of an act all round.
Finally a big brave hurrah for Jessica who bared just about all in order to play Lady Gaga
