A concrete love affair

From The Magazine

A rare opportunity to visit inside Leicester's AD1410 Magazine. Once part of the city's castle walls it's amongst the oldest buildings in the city. Effectively a gateway to the medieval city the brickwork is immensely thick and robust.

It survived 40 years of being marooned by the Central Ring Road on its own island accessible only via a subway. In 2007 the ring road was realigned and the ground levelled uniting the structure with DMU forming Magazine Square.

Today's opening is part of the Heritage Open Days happening nationwide this weekend. This building and many more buildings open in Leicester throughout the weekend.
